Mayor Michael Jacobs had a visit from a potential U.S. Senator Monday afternoon. Eric LaMont Gregory was making the rounds in Ohio to gain support for his campaign and share his stances on important issues.
He had just come from the WXML Christian Radio Station in Upper Sandusky.
Gregory is attempting to run for the U.S. Senate. Gregory got straight to the point once they were settled in Jacobs' office by asking about the revenue in Bucyrus.
Jacobs admitted that, as a small town, there was very little revenue.
"We have General Electric but that's not enough to bring jobs back," Jacobs told Gregory. As for small businesses, Jacobs explained that they are looking for them but they are not here yet. And the younger generations leaving the nest does not help much either. "We suffer from brain drain," Jacobs said. "Once they graduate from high school they don't come back."
"Everyone's talking about cut, cut, cut. Somebody has to think about the revenue side," said Gregory, because cutting jobs also costs money. "We have to grow the economy--jobs have to be created," Gregory told Jacobs. Jacobs and Gregory also discussed property tax, prescription drug problems, and foreign affairs.
