Hail Mary, full of grace Kevin McCarthy in second place
architects of an American disaster, the politics of obstruction
While Congressional job approval is at 14%, one of the lowest ratings since the resignation of Nixon in 1974, the detached members of the House of Representatives are about to drive those numbers into an even deeper well.
Although it did not act to jolt the worst Congress in memory from ceasing to ignore the vast challenges this nation faces at home and abroad, the good people of Virginia did have the wisdom to relieve the third member of the obstructionist troika, Eric Cantor, of his congressional duties. And for that, America will always be grateful.
Boehner will go down in history as possibly, save some pre-Civil War and turn of the 20th century economic-collapse era congressional leaders, as the least effect Speaker of the House in American history.
The politics of obstruction have harmed this country immeasurably. Recovery will be slow, and the path to progress is strewn with thorns.
Kevin McCarthy is one of those thorns.
It is part of American conventional wisdom that a little revolution from time to time is healthy. As can be seen clearly from the tumultuous nature of the current presidential campaign, the American people have grow tired of political dynasties and congressional and other political leaders enriching themselves while 52% of American families have an annual income of $32,000 or less.
While it may be convenient for the inward-looking members of Congress to ignore associations between their members and divisive groups within the American body politic who debase the creed of this great nation, in the increasing revolutionary mood that is sweeping this country outside of the Congress no quarter is being extended.
Every member of Congress who votes for McCarthy, who votes to continue the obstructionist-do-nothing politics that has been the hallmark of the past six years, should join Eric Cantor as ex-members of that body.
The halls of Congress were once graced by patriots, forward-looking Americans who created a system of government that will, however painfully, survive the likes of John Boehner and Kevin McCarthyism. *
* McCarthyism - describes the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence. It also encompasses - the practice of making unfair allegations or using unfair investigative techniques, especially in order to restrict dissent or political criticism.
