We are faced with a political environment that is highly charged, and at times, ugly, hateful, and divisive.
We must remember that democracy is not the absence of lively debate; but the forbearance of political violence.
The question we must keep asking ourselves, is this:
How do we keep going?
How do we keep going, when we know there are people out there who have turned their backs on the ideals of this nation?
When the forces of division shun a more perfect union, as well as the belief that this nation is dedicated to securing the blessings of liberty to ourselves and to our posterity?
Perhaps, the lesson here, is this:
That there is always going to be someone out there whose actions, we cannot make sense of.
There is always going to be something out there with the ability to scare us, to threaten us, and to terrorize us, so much so, we cannot move.
But, in the midst of the ugliness, the hatred and the terror, we have no choice but to find the strength of character, the faith and the courage, to continue what is a long twilight struggle to fashion a nation that is truly ~ we the people ~
Otherwise, the forces of division win.
Our strength of character; our faith; and our courage, will see us through.
