The - Party of Lincoln - the right choice for Ohio
On Tuesday March 6th the citizens of Ohio go to the polls in one of the; if not the, most important election in the history of this state.
At stake, is nothing less than a choice between this nation remaining a Republic with limited government, or our continuing down a path to bigger and ever more invasive government?
I choose liberty.
I do not believe that the People of this state want an all powerful government mandating our every decision; telling us what we must buy, or where we can and cannot live, or work.
The founders of our Republic created a system of governance that safeguards our inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
The framers fashioned a government to be exercised by ordinary citizens; elected at regular intervals; by their neighbors; to make and execute laws for the general good.
Our Constitution enumerates the powers of the federal government, reserves the rights of the states, and with equal importance retains the right of the People to safeguard their own liberties against encroachment by the federal government or the states.
The genius of the framers of our Constitution lies in fashioning a system of government in which diversity can exist with unity, and that foundation has stood the test of time.
Those dedicated framers of our Constitution did not always agree and left it to future generations; ours included, to struggle with some of the more perplexing problems concerning the very nature of our political arrangements as well as our economy. And today, the same ideas that our framers struggled with are on trial with renewed vigor.
The question is what shall we, this generation upon whose shoulders the mantle of authority now rests, make of our future; how will we preserve our Republic for future generations?
The history of our time will record how well we meet this great and noble task, how well we fulfill the destiny of the American Republic.
I will stand before the people of this community, and Almighty God, and solemnly swear to support, defend and bear full allegiance to the Constitution of the United States, and to faithfully discharge the duties of a United States Senator.
